School. STARS stands for Self-esteem Through Activities, Recreation and Sports. Our mission is to provide
elementary school children with a variety of challenging, structured,
recreational activities in a safe after-school setting. Activities are designed
to foster teamwork, athletic skills, positive attitudes, and self-esteem.
La Puente Park
The primary recreational facility in the
City is La Puente Park. Bordered by Glendora and Temple Avenues and Hacienda Boulevard, the Park is a favorite of both residents and visitors alike. A
wide variety of recreational facilities are offered at the Park, including two
lighted baseball fields, two softball fields, picnic areas complete with a
covered patio area, tables, benches, barbecue grills, lighted basketball
courts, and four handball courts. A multi-use turf area is very popular,
particularly on weekends, for organized soccer games and other sporting
activities. Select areas of the Park are available for reservation.
The
City of La Puente, Recreation Services Department, has now made a select number
of picnic shelters available for rent at La Puente Park. Reservations must be
made two weeks prior and no more than ninety days in advance with a two hour
minimum. Signs will be posted at each picnic shelter to notify the public of
the reservation. Picnic shelters not reserved will be made available based on
a first come first served basis. Click on the links below to print the Park
