Community Development

The department functions currently include: planning, building and safety, engineering, community development grant administration, public transit services, and central permit operations. 

The Department administers a total budget of $2.89 million.


Economic Development

La Puente is a small suburban city located 20 miles east of Los Angeles. A number of commercially zoned areas within the City, including the historic downtown area, provide opportunities for businesses aimed at offering products and services to the local community. La Puente’s southern border provides opportunity for more intense business activity. Conveniently located within close proximity to the I-10, I-60 and I-605 Freeways, La Puente is accessible from all areas of the San Gabriel Valley and beyond. The city government in La Puente has a vested interest in helping existing and prospective businesses succeed with an efficient staff and streamlined permit process to eliminate construction and entitlement delays so that you can get your business open and operating.
